John Stephen Newton, editor at “La Voz Latina” received the FIS 2018 Special award presented by Autores Indies digital magazine and Pinar Publisher, LLC to personalities and institutions, as well as to authors distinguished for their contribution to culture and Hispanic communities. The Awards’ ceremony took place during the closing of the event.
Upon receiving the Award Stephen Newton said that “working with the Latino community, here, has changed my life, and has given me new hope for the future of this country”.
Recognized with distinctions in the Personalities category were Emerson Martínez, for distinguished community work, Claudia Carmona, for her ongoing contribution to the Hispanic culture; Pilar de Aguilar, for distinguished community work; Mario Martínez, for distinguished community work, and Pastor Samuel Rodríguez, for distinguished community work.
Also, in the Personalities category, the following authors received recognition: Luz Pizarro for her contribution to the Hispanic culture; Luz Herrera for distinguished community work; Gustavo González for his distinguished artistic career, and Nadia L. Páez for distinguished community work.
Following in the Personalities category awards were Pastor Walter Herrera for distinguished community work; Jimmy Pizarro for his contribution to Hispanic culture; Iris Muñoz for her contribution to the Hispanic culture, and Othoniel Hatchett for distinguished community work. Continuing in this category were José A. Ortega for his contribution to Hispanic culture, Alfonso Ribot for his contribution to the Hispanic community, Ismael Lorenzo for his contribution to Hispanic literature, and Nancy Castro for her distinguished artistic career.
In the Institutions category, the awards went to the musical group “Son Del Coquí” for its distinguished artistic career, “La Isla” magazine for its contribution to the Hispanic community, “Enfoque” radio magazine for its contribution to the Hispanic community, and to “Vaqueva” magazine (la Revista) for its contribution to the Hispanic community. Following in the Institutions category awards was LAHR for Puerto Rico and the Caribbean.
The authors distinguished with the FIS 2018 Special Award were Alejandro Marrero for “Cuentos de Pilotos” and Luz Herrera for “La novia Seducida.” Recepients of the FIS 2018 Special Mention in the Authors category were Catalina Hernández for “El Renacer del Sol”, Luis Hernández for “Pequeños aventureros,” Telhma Hernández for “Aventuras y travesuras,” Cira Pérez Rodríguez for “Maravillas de Fantasías,” and Elizabeth Rodríguez for “Amor verdadero”.
The FIS 2018 Special Mention in the Personalities category went to author Ezequiel Ignacio Álvarez Sosa for his life’s work. In addition, FIS 2018 recognized “From South to South in Verb and Verse,” a book of erotic poetry written by women from Spain and Latin America.
